JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — There are some new businesses opening up shop in Historic Springfield.
Historically Hoppy, a new craft brewery, is currently having its soft opening. The brewery is located in the same spot where Main and Six closed its doors just two months ago.
The brewery's owners said they just have a few more pieces of paperwork to complete before they announce plans for a fully staffed grand opening. In the meantime, their hours of operation are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sundays.
Some of Historically Hoppy's brews are named as an homage to the neighborhood, like the Westside IPA and the Eastside IPA, Perry Pale Ale and the Springfield Sour. Their website says they plan to soon offer craft root beer and hop water for those looking for a non-alcoholic option.
Historically Hoppy is located at 1636 North Main St.
Just up the block on Main Street, Stumpy's Hatchet House also opened its doors recently. The original indoor hatchet throwing venue in the United States, the Stumpy's franchise opened its Jacksonville location on May 5.
In addition to throwing axes, Stumpy's offers games like giant Jenga, shuffleboard and more, as well as a selection of beer, wine and snacks. The seven throwing pits are uniquely themed, including a section that nods to the historic building's original use as one of the nation's oldest Piggly Wiggly grocery stores.
"The sport of axe throwing is primitive and organic and is perfect for those who love adventure or are seeking a release," the Stumpy's website says. "Axe throwing is an old school activity and an excellent way to bond with others without technology. It allows you to get your frustrations out and is a great team-building experience."
Stumpy's Hatchet House is open on Sundays from 2 to 8 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 10 p.m., Fridays from 4 to 11 p.m. and Saturdays from 2 to 11 p.m. The address is 1719 North Main St.
