JACKSONVILLE, Fla — One of Jacksonville's Best Buy stores has fallen victim to a round of closures the retailer executed in the last few weeks. A crew from New York was in the now empty store at 9355 Atlantic Blvd. on Sunday selling the remaining fixtures.
A sign was posted in the entrance stating, in part, "This Best Buy is closed .... permanently ..."
According to BusinessInsider.com, the retailer plans to close two stores in the Richmond, Va. area and one store in Syracuse, N.Y., Carbondale, Ill., and Brockton, Ma.
The electronics retailer has operated fewer stores every year since 2012, according to Business Insider. Best Buy's website states it has 956 stores. That's down from 977 stores in 2020.
The Atlantic Boulevard store closure leaves the Jacksonville area with four stores; St. Johns Town Center, River City Marketplace, 9930 Southside Blvd. and 8151 Blanding Blvd.
