Project Chance providing service dogs to children with autism

Tegna was able to sponsor two service dogs that will be trained for use by children in Northeast Florida.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Project Chance is a non-profit organization based in Northeast Florida that connects children with autism and other developmental disabilities with service dogs.

All of the dogs from Project Chance are trained by the organization and paired with the child for the life of the dog.

Project Chance was founded in 2008 by B.J. Szwedzinski, who is a former special needs teacher. Szwedzinski also trains the dogs to become an added resource for children. Project Chance was a Tegna Foundation grant recipient and through the grant, Tegna was able to sponsor two service dogs that will be trained for use by children in Northeast Florida.

More information about a training timeline for the dogs, ways to donate as well as ways to apply to become the recipient of a service dog trained by Project Chance can be found on their website.
