JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Christmas Eve, Santa and his elves delivered a 1-month-old puppy to a family in San Marco, a rescue from the Jacksonville Humane Society.
Delivered by Santa Clause himself, the 1-month-old puppy is more than just a Christmas gift.
“Guess we’re going to need a new stocking," Ellie Norton, the puppy's new caretaker, said.
A rescue from the Jacksonville Humane Society, the puppy will now have a life in a loving home.
“The holidays are a special time of year whether you have two legs or four. Thanks to our friends at Petco Love, this year we’re able to make it extra special for a few families as well. There’s nothing more exciting than having Santa and his elves deliver a dog to your home on Christmas Eve," Lawrence Nicolas, president of the Jacksonville Humane Society, said.
“Ellie had a family dog about a year ago that passed away, and so for the last year she’s been working really hard to prove that she could earn the responsibility of a puppy, and she’s been doing really good lately so this is kind of her wish," Katie Norton, said.
The puppy is one of dozens of dogs under the Humane Society's care that are looking for a home and a new family to play with.
“I hope more people get out there to add pets to their families," said Norton. “Because every dog deserves a nice home where they can be loved, right.”
The Jacksonville Humane Society will coordinate with Santa and his elves to make special deliveries to families on Christmas Day.
