JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — There were not many parking spots at Jacksonville Beach this Fourth of July as people piled into the beach to celebrate.
Among the beachgoers was Macklin Flanigan who was raised in Jacksonville, and is home for the summer from college celebrating with his friend. In just Flanigan's one group, there were 20 people.
This is nothing new to Faeryn Lee who has been a lifeguard at Jacksonville Beach the last four summer saying, "Every year it's like triples, doubles, it's crazy how busy it gets."
Flanigan and his buddies prepared for the hot day saying, "We brought a lot of water. That's the biggest thing, especially mixed with alcohol."
Lee would go on to say, “It’s just super important to stay hydrated, but if you start to feel yourself get too hot, or you know you aren’t sweating but you’re hot that is a time to definitely drink some water."
With the heat being so strong recently, it can only expect to stay that way, so stay hydrated.
