If you're looking for a new twist when it comes to a classic breakfast and/or dessert food, check out Cinnaholic, a new cinnamon roll bakery that's celebrating its grand opening in Mandarin Friday.
Cinnaholic is opening up its first location in Northeast Florida, located at 11362 San Jose Blvd. It marks the second Cinnaholic in Florida with the first being in Boca Raton, just north of Fort Lauderdale. Nationwide, there are more than 40 locations.
The Mandarin franchise owner, Augustus Cesar Carangue, 49, describes it as a gourmet, award-winning bakery packed with a unique experience.
"It's quite different than your everyday cinnamon roll, donut shop or pretzel [shop] with just one option," he said. "Here, there is an unlimited option of what you want to try the next time you visit ... If you don't like the old school cinnamon roll, we have a [wide selection] of flavors ... and toppings."
Locally, Cinnaholic offers 17 frosting flavors like chocolate, strawberry, lemon or coffee, as well as 20 toppings, such as cookie dough, fruits, marshmellows and sprinkles. (Click here to find out your options.)
Cinnaholic offers gourmet cinnamon rolls in Jacksonville
Carangue said it's not just the flavors and toppings that makes Cinnaholic unique, but it is also the fact that each cinnamon roll is vegan-friendly, lactose-free and egg-free.
"We wanted to bring this experience to Jacksonville because we don't have a lot of plant-based options," he said. "Everything here is handmade and plant-based."
Cinnaholic also offers vegan-friendly cookie dough treats, cookies, brownies, and coffee.
On Friday, Carangue said the bakery will be celebrating the bakery's grand opening with a special where visitors can get $1 cinnamon rolls from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
