Something is brewing at University of North Florida

In a newly launched class at UNF, students will be able to learn about beer ingredients, the home brewing process and what it takes to make their own beer.

Something is brewing over at the University of North Florida that will make craft beer lovers want to hit the books.

On Monday, the University is launching a new homebrewing course as part of one of its Division of Continuing Education programs.

Homebrewing beer is a popular and growing hobby. In this class, UNF says you will learn the basics of creating your own homebrew, learn about beer ingredients, the home brewing process and more.

Plus, the final class will be held on a Saturday where students will receive exposure to multiple homebrews at a special event.

Michael Lentz, Ph.D., is leading the course and has been teaching biology courses at UNF for over 15 years. He's an avid homebrewer with 20 years of brewing experience and regularly judges in beer competitions.

At the moment, this is the only class UNF has scheduled, but if it does well, they are hoping to do other, more specific topics like brewing particular types of beer.

The class is $89 and meets on Monday evenings.
