JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was injured Wednesday after he was attacked by a jaguar at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.
The man jumped over the safety barrier between the viewing area of the jaguar exhibit and the fence, according to zoo officials. The man stuck his hand through the fence to the get animal's attention.
After he did so, the jaguar swiped at the man.
First responders took the man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens said Thursday that it does not intend to press charges against the man. The man has not been identified by first responders.

In March 2019, a female zookeeper with the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens was seriously injured after being struck by a rhino at the zoo.
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens was later cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for "exposing employees to workplace safety hazards," according to a release from the U.S. Department of Labor.
