Driving in the southeast during a rainstorm is more dangerous than anywhere else in the country, at least according to data compiled by SmartAsset.
Their data suggest that southeast states such as Alabama, South Carolina. Mississippi and Arkansas are among the most dangerous states for driving in the rain.
But what about Florida and Georgia? Despite receiving a large amount of rainfall per year, these states have remained off the 'most dangerous' list.
Three of the most dangerous states for rain driving also land in the top ten for total numbers of crashes and fatalities:
- North Carolina: 112 crashes, 117 fatalities
- Kentucky: 67 crashes, 71 fatalities
- Alabama: 64 crashes, 70 fatalities
