If you need an excuse to treat yourself like a princess, National Princess Day is the day for it. The unofficial holiday falls annually on Nov. 18 and social media users didn't miss the chance to post their favorite princess using the hashtag #NationalPrincessDay.

From the iconic Little Mermaid to the first black Disney princess Tiana from "The Princess and the Frog," fans raved about their cherished royalty.

However, it wasn't only animated princesses that were praised on social media. Diana, the Princess of Wales, was remembered and her son's wife Megan Markle was mentioned by many as their favorite.

Strong Hollywood icons also made the list like the legendary Princess Leia from "Star Wars" and Princess Shuri from "Black Panther."

To some their ultimate princess isn't from a Disney movie or the Windsor Castle, but in the form of a four-legged friend.

To others, their beloved daughters are the princesses in their universe.

According to National Today, Nest Family Entertainment teamed up with Rich Animation in 1994 to create the animated film The Swan Princess - a musical adaptation of Swan Lake.

In addition to the movie, National Princess Day was created so people could treat themselves like royalty. No matter who your favorite princess is, the day isn't just about the monarchy but celebrating empowered, kind and beautiful females.
