JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Legendary R&B groups Xscape and SWV will be coming to Jacksonville in July after their 'The Queens of R&B Tour' was announced on Tuesday, according to a news release, as general tickets are now on sale Friday.
The announcement of the tour comes after a teaser on social media ignited "fervent excitement" from fans, the release states. Mýa, Total and 702 will also join the groups on the tour, according to the release.
SWV (Sisters With Voices) has been nominated three times before for a Grammy, and are known for their songs "Weak" and "Rain," while Xscape is known for tracks like "Who Can I Run To" and "Understanding."
The tour will nearly span two months starting June 27, with visits to 30 cities nationwide -- including three in Florida. The Jacksonville show will be on July 12 at 7 p.m. at Daily's Place.
"To announce this HERstorical tour during Women’s History Month means everything," said Mona Scott-Young in the release, the founder and CEO of Monami Entertainment, which is a multi-faceted boutique entertainment company. "It speaks to the power of our ability as women to overcome adversity and emerge triumphant. 702, Total, Mýa, SWV, and Xscape have all weathered storms and are still here and better than ever! We are so excited to bring the fans an incredible and undeniable performance experience that truly celebrates R&B music."
