JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Saturday, mark your calendars for an evening that promises to blend fun, science and community spirit, as the Jacksonville Museum of Science and History (MOSH) hosts the much-anticipated 'MOSH Galaxy Gala.' First Coast News, On Your Side's Meteorologist Robert Speta visited MOSH to provide a sneak peek into the excitement surrounding the event.
If you're someone who enjoys fun, the MOSH Galaxy Gala is the place to be. Alistair Dove, newly-appointed MOSH CEO, shared his enthusiasm, revealing that the gala is the second edition of the MOSH Galaxy.
"The MOSH Galaxy Gala is a celebration in support of the genesis campaign, proudly presented by our partners at CSX," Co-Chair of Galaxy Gala Katie Borghese said.
The ultimate goal of the gala? To bring a new and updated museum to the northbank of Jacksonville. For more information on the plan, click here.
The anticipated move from the current location near Friendship Fountain to a spot upriver closer to Metro Park, signifies not just a change of venue, but a significant expansion.
"Jacksonville is ready for something new and big," Dove told First Coast News.
Dove says the idea is to build a hundred-million-dollar museum that will not only be a landmark, but will also bring world-class science and education to the heart of Jacksonville.
But, what exactly can attendees expect from the gala?
MOSH, with its interactive experiences like the gala and educational programs, aims to contribute significantly to fostering scientific literacy in the community.
"Science and education underpins everything that we do," Borghese said. "It's essential to have a prepared workforce and an informed public literate in science."
The event is open to the public, starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday (VIP cocktail pre-party starts at 6 p.m.), and tickets are available here.
