Mother and son play piano on stage together in 'Two Piano Journey' coming to Jacksonville

Classically trained, Michelle Chen Kuo loved to play on stage but, she devoted her life to her family. Her son inspired her to go back on stage with him at the keys.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Becoming an accomplished pianist is difficult alone. Becoming an accomplished pianist alongside a loved one, is another feat in itself.

Michelle Chen Kuo and her son have both earned their way onto the stage, not to play individually, but to perform simultaneously. Kuo's son, Christopher, realized his mother had stopped her dream of playing on stages around the world because she was a devoted family woman.

Christopher decided to change that. He practiced for countless hours and crafted his skills at the keys to play on stage at the same time as his mother.

The two are coming to Jacksonville on Saturday for the 'Two Piano Journey' event in Riverside; they travel across the country, raising money for non-profits. They give all their proceeds and will again this week in Jacksonville. The group on the receiving end is Lutheran Social Services, a non-profit with five separate missions on the First Coast. For example, LSS gives backpacks to more than a dozen local schools to underserved children. LSS also provides help for refugees, who come in the United States with practically nothing.
