Middleburg residents asked to remain inside as Clay County police respond to 'armed suicidal subject'

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area. The road is blocked past Old Jennings Road and Long Bay Road. People nearby are asked to park their cars and stay inside.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — The Clay County Sheriff's Office is on the scene of 4100 Old Jennings Road responding to an "armed suicidal subject," according to police. 

Police now say the man is contained in his home.

Residents in the area are asked to remain inside their homes. 

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area. The road is blocked past Old Jennings Road and Long Bay Road. 

The CCSO asks that drivers who are in the area park and remain with their vehicle at the Calvary Baptist Church, or at the parking lot at the Tynes Elementary School.

The CCSO will provide updates through the Safer Watch app and social media. 

As of 11 p.m., residents who reside on Foxmeadow Trail may return to their homes. Otherwise, the scene is still active.
