Jacksonville Fire Rescue has sent crews Sunday to the scene of a fatal traffic accident on I-95 northbound near Southside Blvd, according to JFRD.
JSO confirmed around 3:30 p.m. that two people had died as a result of the crash. They were found inside the vehicle involved.
The Florida Highway Patrol released a report later Sunday that stated 23-year-old James Gourd, of Greenacres, was the driver who died in the crash. His next of kin has been notified.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Daniela Albornoz from Greenacres also died in the car. She was wearing a seat belt.
The two people were traveling north on I-95 in a 1999 Ford Mustang in the right travel lane. For unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree. The crash is still under investigation.
