The Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) offered another pathetic showing as the Tennessee Titans (4-4) dominated their AFC South rivals at Nissan Stadium on Thursday night.
The Jaguars' fifth loss of the season came in a game where Jacksonville never had a chance. The 36-22 embarrassment was just the latest in a long line of disappointments for Jacksonville.
Just days after the team's owner Shad Khan visited with players and coaches to address their shortcomings, the Jaguars were shut out in the first half, while allowing 27 points to the Titans.
Tennessee surged downfield with consistency, as the Jaguars continued to show their lack of discipline. The Jaguars' poor play and penalties aided the Titans' terrific performance throughout the first half.
Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota was brilliant, as he led the Titans downfield with relative ease. He completed 18-of-22 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 11 yards on the ground.
Speaking of the running game, Titans running backs DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry couldn't be stopped in the first half. The duo combined for 188 total rushing yards and two scores.
The Titans produced 494 total yards on offense. On defense, Tennessee registered two sacks and forced six punts from Jacksonville punter Brad Nortman.
The Jaguars couldn't answer the Titans' strong scoring for the majority of the game. Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles was horrid in the first half, but completed 33-of-54 passes for 337 passing yards and three touchdowns. His offense produced just 279 total yards.
The Jaguars running backs were held to just 26 rushing yards. In the passing game, wide receiver Allen Hurns caught seven receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown. Tight end Julius Thomas caught three receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown.
Jacksonville once again suffered from unnecessary penalties. Personal fouls on cornerback Jalen Ramsey and defensive end Dante Fowler highlighted the seven penalties for 75 yards for the Jaguars.
Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley was 3-0 in prime time entering this game, but this loss puts him at 14-41 for his tenure.
Injury Updates
The Jaguars kept defensive end Jared Odrick on the sideline due to a quad injury. He was listed as questionable heading into the game.
The Titans were without cornerback Perrish Cox (concussion), safety Rashad Johnson (neck) and guard Quinton Spain (knee) on Thursday due to injury.
