A 57-yard field goal stonewalled the Jaguars' winning streak Sunday in a 27-24 loss to the Cardinals (5-6) in Glendale, Arizona.
Veteran kicker Phil Dawson connected on a career-high field goal attempt against the Jaguars (7-4) with one second left in the game.
The Cardinals' kicker went 4-of-4 on field goals with his closing strike serving as the biggest blow to the Jaguars' hopes of putting together a five-game winning streak.
The Cardinals led for nearly 57 minutes during the Week 12 matchup, despite a fourth-quarter comeback by Jacksonville. It was too little, too late to make up for the first-half offensive issues.
Jacksonville failed to move the ball throughout the first two quarters, providing the Cardinals with strong field position in the early going.
Quarterback Blake Bortles struggled to connect with his weapons throughout the contest. Bortles completed 19-of-33 passes for 160 yards and an interception. He led three scoring drives against the Cardinals' defense and was sacked three times.
While Bortles struggled as a passer, his ability to move the ball with his legs kept the Jaguars in the game. The quarterback gained 62 rushing yards and two touchdowns on six carries.
Bortles' top weapon on the day was rookie wide receiver Dede Westbrook, who caught six passes for 41 yards. Running back T.J. Yeldon added another 42 receiving yards on five catches.
Running back Leonard Fournette also failed to make a major impact in the game. He carried the ball 12 times for 25 rushing yards. It was his third-straight game without a touchdown.
The Cardinals' defense had its way with the Jaguars' offense throughout most of the game. Linebacker Chandler Jones sacked Bortles twice, as he was able to get the best of Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson on several plays.
The Cardinals held the Jaguars to 219 total yards, limiting the Jaguars' running backs to just 29 total rushing yards in Week 12.
On offense, Arizona made the most of its favorable field position. Former Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert completed 22-of-38 passes for 241 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
The former first-round pick led six scoring drives, connecting with tight end Ricky Seals-Jones and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald on big plays. Seal-Jones caught four passes for 72 yards and a touchdown. Fitzgerald produced three catches for 12 yards.
Running back Adrian Peterson aided the Cardinals' offense with 20 carries for 79 rushing yards.
The Jaguars were flagged for eight penalties for 40 yards. The Cardinals were whistled on six penalties for 40 yards.
GAME RECAP
The Jaguars started the game with the ball and did little with it. Jacksonville failed to gain a yard on its first offensive drive.
Following a punt by Brad Nortman, the Cardinals moved the ball downfield on offense. On third-and-9, Gabbert connected with Seals-Jones for a 26-yard completion. Peterson then moved the Cardinals deeper into Jacksonville territory with back-to-back plays.
Dawson eventually connected on a 34-yard field goal to put Arizona up 3-0 with 8:22 left in the first quarter.
The Jaguars attempted to respond to the Cardinals' score, but only managed to pick up one first down on their second drive of the game. Nortman was forced to punt to the Cardinals again.
The Cardinals returned the favor on their next drive. Despite making some progress with the passing game, Arizona was eventually stopped at midfield. Cardinals punter Andy Lee was able to pin the Jaguars deep in their own territory with a 42-yard punt.
Set up at their own four-yard line, the Jaguars were able to get out of harm's way with a pair of passing plays. Bortles hit Westbrook and Fournette on back-to-back double-digit gains. A few plays later, a roughing the passer penalty on Arizona moved the ball to midfield.
However, the Cardinals stopped the Jaguars' progress when Arizona linebacker Josh Bynes forced a fumble on a carry from Chris Ivory. The Cardinals recovered the ball but the play was originally whistled dead. Following a review, the officials ruled in Arizona's favor.
After taking over on offense, the Cardinals were able to catch a quick break. The Jaguars were whistled for a roughing the passer penalty on the first play of the drive. Gabbert then connected with wide receiver J.J. Nelson for a 14-yard gain.
Dawson eventually made his second field goal of the first half. The 42-yard attempt extended the Cardinals lead to six points with nine minutes left in the second quarter.
The Jaguars were unable to respond again on the next drive. Cardinals defensive tackle Olsen Pierre sacked Bortles for a 12-yard loss on third-and-12 from the Jacksonville 23-yard line.
Nortman punted for a third time and Cardinals running back Kerwynn Williams returned the ball to the Jacksonville 41-yard line on a 20-yard gain.
With the ball already in Jacksonville territory, Arizona's offense took advantage of the field position.
Gabbert hit Seals-Jones for a 29-yard touchdown completion on the drive's fourth play. Following an extra point, the Cardinals led 13-0 with 4:44 left in the first half.
The Jaguars failed to respond to a Cardinals score for the third time in the first half on the next drive. A sack by Cardinals linebacker Chandler Jones on third-and-2 capped another poor drive for the Jaguars' offense.
After the Jaguars and the Cardinals traded punts, Jacksonville was finally able to create something on offense. Bortles led the Jaguars on an eight-play, 31-yard drive that ended with a 43-yard field goal by kicker Josh Lambo.
At halftime, the Cardinals led the Jaguars, 13-3.
The Cardinals held onto their momentum after the break as Gabbert and Peterson continued to gain ground for the Arizona offense.
Gabbert led the Cardinals on a eight-play, 45-yard drive, which was capped by a 48-yard field goal from Dawson. The score put the Cardinals ahead, 16-3, with 11:29 left in the third quarter.
The Jaguars came roaring back with their most impressive drive of the game. Bortles led a seven-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a fourth-down rushing touchdown for the quarterback. Bortles ran for 36 yards and a touchdown on the drive.
A successful extra point attempt cut the Cardinals' lead to six with 11:33 left in the third quarter.
The Jaguars and the Cardinals traded punts until Jacksonville defensive end Yannick Ngakoue produced a sack-strip on Gabbert with 12:10 left in the game. The ball was picked up by fellow defensive end Calais Campbell, who returned it to the end zone for a touchdown.
Following an extra point, the Jaguars led the Cardinals, 17-16. It was Jacksonville's first lead of the game.
The Cardinals found a way to answer on the next drive. Gabbert connected with wide receiver Jaron Brown for a 52-yard touchdown completion. The Cardinals attempted a two-point conversion and were able to convert on a pass to Fitzgerald. The Cardinals took a 24-17 lead.
The Jaguars were able respond quickly on the next drive following a 68-yard kickoff return by running back Corey Grant. Bortles ran for his second rushing touchdown of the game on a 17-yard carry. An extra point tied the game with 7:33 left in the fourth quarter.
The Jaguars were able to get the ball back after safety Barry Church produced an interception on a throw by Gabbert. However, Bortles turned the ball over to the Cardinals shortly after Jacksonville made it into field goal range. A quick throw by Bortles was intercepted by safety Tyrann Mathieu.
The Cardinals weren't able to take advantage of the turnover. They eventually punted to the Jaguars.
Jacksonville's offense started the next series deep in its own territory and failed to make up ground. The Jaguars eventually punted with 26 second left in the game.
Gabbert was able to get the Cardinals in position for a 57-yard field goal with six seconds left in the game. Dawson was able to connect on the attempt, beating the Jaguars, 27-24, and setting a new career-high mark.

Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue produced Jacksonville's lone sack on the day. It was the most important play of the game for the Jaguars, as it led to a defensive touchdown for Jacksonville.

The Jaguars were without wide receiver Allen Hurns (ankle), linebacker Donald Payne (hamstring), right tackle Jermey Parnell (knee) and left guard Patrick Omameh (quad) due to injury.
Linebacker Telvin Smith left the game in the second quarter with a concussion. He did not return.
