John Iman, the medical marijuana card carrying Orange park man, is back home with his family.
The day after he was released from the Clay County jail, after a marijuana bust, Inman was examined at a local hospital, treated with Potassium and released.
On Thursday, Inman was arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia at his home.
Investigators charged him with possession and the intent to sell.
A charge he denies. Inman says he purchased the drug off the streets because what he buys at the dispensary makes him sick.
He claims the drug in the dispensary is treated with ethanol. We asked the state’s Medical Marijuana office if that was true.
“There are many cannabis extraction methods, including solvent based extraction,” said a spokesperson.
But the spokesperson did not confirm nor deny if ethanol is used in the extraction process.
Even so, it is illegal to buy the drug from a street dealer even if you have a medical marijuana card, according to law enforcement. And it is still illegal to smoke pot in the state of Florida.
Inman and his daughter, Shae, who also has a medical marijuana card say they will continue to smoke pot for their medical conditions.
They believe that treating their illness with the raw organic drug is much safer for them than buying what’s sold in the dispensaries.
John Inman’s next court date is March 28. He says he plans to fight the issue.
