'Dare Devil' pilot involved in plane crash at Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine

A plane carrying two people crashed at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A plane crashed at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine Wednesday with two people on board, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said a 1958 Beech K35 aircraft was landing at the airport around 5:32 p.m. when it overturned on the grass median as it was taxing down the runway.

The plane was piloted by 68-year-old Patricia Wagstaff of St. Augustine. Jeffery Rochelle, 59, of Port Orange was also inside the plane. Both sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.

According to the National Aviation Hall of Fame, Wagstaff is a daredevil aerobatic pilot who was placed in the hall of fame in 2004.

FHP said neither Wagstaff nor Rochelle were taken to the hospital. Both were wearing seatbelts and alcohol is not said to be a factor in the crash.

The Florida Aviation Authority is investigating the incident.
