JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After a man disappeared while boating on the St. Johns River Friday, authorities confirmed the missing man's body was found.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office confirmed to First Coast News that the man was found dead on Friday night, hours after going missing in the St. Johns River.
The search for the missing man began Friday afternoon when a man told authorities he saw the missing man fall off a boat they were aboard together. The man told police he turned the boat around, but still could not locate the missing man.
The men were just south of the Palmo Boat Ramp in St. Augustine when one of them went overboard. They had launched from Trout Creek Boat Ramp in St. Johns County, according to police.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office confirmed the man was found dead in a Facebook post on Sunday.
Deputies said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is the lead agency in the investigation.
FWC previously said no foul play was involved and attributed the accident to rough water conditions.
First Coast News reached out to FWC for an update on the investigation and is waiting to hear back.
