JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Five people were taken to the hospital Monday morning after a fire onboard the USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81), according to a release. All five people transported have non-life threatening injures.
The ship's crew was able to extinguish the fire, and de-smoke the affected spaces.
The Navy is investigating the cause of the fire and is working to determine the extent of the damage.
