Atlantic Coast becomes first Duval County H.S. to show FCN's D-DAY special to students

The goal is to make sure our younger generation knows about this monumental day in history.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — First Coast News is proud to announce that Atlantic Coast High is leading a new push to educate students about D-DAY.

More than 500 juniors, the entire class, gathered in the school auditorium to watch our First Coast News D-DAY special.

FCN anchors Jeannie Blaylock and Lew Turner traveled to Normandy, France in June to report live on the 75th Anniversary of D-DAY, a massive military operation, which changed the course of history and began the demise of Hitler's Nazi war machine.

Teacher Rebecca Solomon spearheaded the effort. Students offered thoughtful comments after the presentation.

If you'd like FCN to bring the documentary, "Rendezvous With History," to your school, just email Jeannie: jblaylock@firstcoastnews.com.  You can also reach out to Lew: lewisturner@firstcoastnews.com.

The special runs 38 minutes long.
