STARKE, Fla. -- The Baker County Sheriff's Office transferred drug suspect Chris Barton to the Bradford County Jail Tuesday.
Barton, 41, had been in custody at the Baker County Jail since last fall following his arrest on a list of drug charges after he was allegedly caught selling drugs to undercover cops.
Baker County Sheriff Joey Dobson told First Coast News it was done to keep Barton separated from his estranged wife, Lonna Barton, and her one-time boyfriend, Ruben Ebron, after both were transferred to Baker County.
Lonna Barton entered a guilty plea in Duval County last month to charges of child neglect and giving false information to law enforcement in connection to the disappearance of her toddler son, Lonzie, whose remains were recently found in Jacksonville. She faces several drug charges after she and Chris were arrested in an undercover drug sting last September.
Ebron, meanwhile, pleaded no contest Tuesday morning to a handful of drug possession charges in Baker County court. His drug trial has been moved to March.
He was sentenced earlier this month to 20 years in prison as part of a plea deal that had him plead guilty to manslaughter, child neglect and giving false information to law enforcement in connection to Lonzie Barton's death.
