Corrine Brown to report to federal prison in Wildwood, Florida on Monday

Former Congresswoman Corrine Brown will be headed to federal prison on Monday to begin her 60-month sentence for corruption and fraud charges.

Former Congresswoman Corrine Brown will be headed to federal prison on Monday to begin her 60-month sentence for corruption and fraud charges.

Brown will be reporting to Coleman, a medium-security prison in Sumter County, Florida.

The facility has two parts: the medium security prison and an adjacent minimum security camp. On the entire premises, there are 1,849 total inmates, with 1,458 in the medium security portion and 391 in the minimum security portion.

This prison houses both male and female inmates. On Coleman's website, there is a list of commissary items which can be purchased with a commissary account. Some of the items include, but are not limited to:

  • An Ironman watch - $36.50
  • An Ironman watch band - $10.55
  • A jumbo robe - $46.40
  • A 6 pack of Pepsi - $2.05
  • One roll of Charmin toilet paper - $3.10
  • Degree Deodorant - $2.50
  • Honey Buns - $0.70

Each inmate must attend a program which goes over their rights and responsibilities as an inmate, within four weeks of entering the facility.

It details what is expected from each inmate from personal hygiene to paying court-ordered fees, child support etc. It also details what the inmates' rights are and how they go about making sure they receive them, which includes everything from visitation to health rights.
