What began as a Downtown grocery store is now a butcher shop and restaurant located in the historic Avondale neighborhood.

Pine Grove Market and Deli is a mom and pop hot spot owned by Nader Bajalia and his four brothers. Their father started it all back in 1968.

"It was actually a city employee who stopped in he didn't want to buy meats to take home he just wanted us to make a sandwich made him a sandwich he loved it came back the next day brought five more of his buddies," Bajalia said.

The deli is also an award winning eatery mostly known for their dry age style meats.

"Dry aging is a process that the beef breaks the muscle down it makes it more tender it gives it a lot more flavor, it’s unique, nobody does it anymore."

Also popular on the menu the steak dinner.

"you can order a couple of steaks from the case we will cut it for you, give you a couple sides with it,cook it for you and you can enjoy it here or you can take it home to go."

Or if you’re in the mood for a sandwich you can’t go wrong with the The Steak in Sack

"It’s a combination of all of our different cuts of steaks that we have in there and they are so tender it’s like eating butter it literally just melts in your mouth."

The burgers are also a big hit so much so they have recently rolled out their very own food truck burger bar.

"People really love the fact that you can really taste the meat. You’re not just tasting a bunch of stuff that’s been fabricated in a factory we make it fresh everyday you just can’t beat it."
