Grammy Award-winning rock legends Huey Lewis and the News and special guest Richard Marx have canceled a concert slated for April 22 at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, citing medical problems for the lead singer.
The news came Tuesday as the Huey Lewis released the following statement regarding the cancellation:
“I’m so sorry to have canceled shows in one of my favorite places. I’m going through some medical problems at the moment which forbid me from performing, but I’m confident that I will be okay and back on the road soon. Thank you for understanding, and I promise to make it up to you soon.”
Tickets purchased via TicketMaster will be refunded immediately. Ticketmaster phone charges and online sales will automatically be credited to customer’s accounts. Tickets purchased at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre or Ponte Vedra Concert Hall Box Offices can be refunded at the Box Offices. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall Box Office will open today, Sunday, March 11 at 3 p.m. to assist with refunds. Normal Ponte Vedra Concert Hall Box Office hours are Thursday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Huey Lewis and the News were a staple of the 1980s for hits such as “The Power of Love,” “If This Is It,” and “Hip to be Square.”
